early figure study

You can tell this is a figure study from my youth as i was avoidng rendering fully the hands and feet..  which is funny as i know i was fully capable of depicting them, but they were my least favorite part.  Now i quite enjoy depicting hands and feet.

foreshortened figuration

foreshortened figuration always finds its way into my work...... the start of an underdrawing for an oil in linen

Nude model figure study; hands and feet

When studying porportions from a live model I find it helpful to use a soft pencil and light paper (lending to  a focus on line).  Natural and porportionally correct hands and feet are the most difficult to achieve, Aspiring artists should be proud at the achievement of a propotioned sketch of foreshortened feet and hands

drawing the ladies...

Im a fan of figure drawing from life using grey paper & white + black graphite.  It is easier to begin with a neutral surface and then isolate shadows and highlights.

This is also helpful with oil painting to begin with a neutral surface, which is why I typically always begin painting an entire glaze of a mid tone color before begining.
