With a career beginning as a successful visual artist, in 2017 Carrie Able picked up a guitar for the first time. An early innovator of the Metaverse, this new media of sound would allow Able to continue to expand her creativity, evolving into writing, composing, and performing original songs while pushing the boundaries of art and emerging technologies.
Songs emerge as poems, first highlighting lyrics of primal importance as well as experimental song structure. Able’s lyrical themes explore love, grit, hope, and the simultaneous joy and pain of the human experience.
Attracting a global audience, select singles have been streamed over 4 million times on Spotify to an audience of over 30,000 monthly listeners. Performing choreographed shows internationally, recent highlights include; Mercury Lounge, New York, The Ace Hotel, New York, SXSW, Austin, Art Basel, Miami, Palazzo Bembo, Venice, Italy, and the World’s Fair, Dubai, UAE.
In April 2022, Able released a visual album as both a performance and hologram installation in Venice, Italy, during Personal Structures: Reflections. Able has also collaborated with the likes of Arden Altino, producer of songs by artists like Alicia Keys, Justin Bieber, and Jay-Z. Able released an original song, The Brighter The Burn, produced by Altino as a cutting-edge generative music project in December 2022.
In May 2023, Able signed her first record deal with Tom Sarig of AntiFragile Music. Sarig, the president of Antifragile Music, produced and managed Lou Reed among many other influential musicians.
“Carrie is more than an artist—she is herself an inflection point across disciplines from virtual spaces to the plastic and performing arts, connecting communities and pioneering new formats. While she is an accomplished multidisciplinary painter, sculptor, and musician, her technical expertise in the realms of creative technology and VR/XR make her an authoritative figure in interactive art and the ‘Metaverse’. But beyond her individual artistic prowess, Carrie is a respected, enthusiastic champion of the creative community—her voice enables her to be a leader and mentor as an educator and curator, single-handedly bringing magic and credibility to the digital art world. I have worked personally with many hundreds of artists in interactive art/design for over 10 years as part of galleries, museums, and big tech—any institution would be lucky to have her as a collaborator.”
